The best records of all time

What is the best record of all time in the Dutch Top 40?

On points across all weekly charts since 1965 that is Happy by Pharrell Williams, with 1449 points from 49 weeks (peak position 1). The top 5: 1. Happy (Pharrell Williams), 2. Ordinary (Alex Warren), 3. Die With A Smile (Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars), 4. Man I Need (Olivia Dean), 5. Somebody That I Used to Know (Gotye and Kimbra).

How is the all-time list calculated?

Every weekly entry earns points: 41 minus the position, so 40 points for a number 1 and 1 point for number 40. The sum across all weeks sets the order; on a tie the peak position counts, then the number of weeks, then the earliest week. A record that stayed in the chart for a long time can therefore end above a record that spent less time at number 1. The list runs up to the latest week and shifts accordingly.

Where do I find the best records per year or per decade?

Every year has a year chart with the 100 best records of that year (/top40/{year}/jaaroverzicht/), and every decade a decade chart; both can be found from the Top 40 overview. The records (longest in the chart, most weeks at number 1, entries at number 1, artists with the most number ones) are on the Records page.
